The mencías from Bierzo tend to be richer than those of Ribeira Sacra, and this, from one of Spain’s finest winemakers, is no exception. It’s complex and energetic, with intense, lingering flavors of spicy fruit. Serve with lamb chops or beef.

It's stunning - as are many Mencia wines ... Petit Pitticum is one the best.
Cuatro Pasos from the Martin Codax winery. Another Mencia, annnnnnnd in Madrid it is under 7 euros!
Have tried it and others from Raul Perez that is considered, one of the best Spanish winemaker of the moment, if not the best. Actually, we walk really close to the vineyard of this wine when we walk near Villafranca del Bierzo. If here, go to the supermarket and pick one of Raul Perez wine bottles for less than 5 EUR... By the other side, Raul is involved in other projects and one in the Douro region with Nieport, in Portugal, the Ultreia Douro is around 90€ the bottle..
Enjoy it!! :)
