"Any thoughts on the detour to Monasterio San Millán de Suso right after Nájera on the CF? It is TWO monasteries. Up on the hill, Suso is a cave church that dates back to Visigothic times; really cool view into the lives of early hermit saints. Down in the valley is Yuso, a grand monastery full of history and cool items from the past -- it is here the first evidence of written Spanish was found. Part of it is a 4-star hotel, with pilgrim rates. Nothing like this anywhere else on the Frances, it is worth a side trip, IMHO. And the trail takes you back to the Camino the following day."

""if you can get there earlier in the day and take the tour round the monasteries, your night is free to enjoy the hotel and the big bathtub! In the morning you walk, of course. Hotel is closed for the season just now, but look here for bookings: ""
The town outside is also very lovely, I think there are a couple of pensions there that are less costly
Samos after Triacastela! ;
The benedictine sisters in Leon run a hostel and invite guests to sing vesters and morning lauds with them. its heavenly.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47ULH0Rfsxw. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187492-d7697732...They also have washers and dryers! But are very strict. . .
Benedictines in Sahagun, a must stay by the Marists now. Excellent!!!6
Also...the Logrono pilgrims auberge next to the Pilgrims church is a great experience where they have communal dining and the priest of the church gives a tour of the church after hours which takes you into the balcony/choir loft. The church holds a pilgrim Mass. The Pilgrim church has a statue of Saint James in pilgrim hat/attire in the front above the door.
Best tip ever..... like foghat are ... you ...ready...... seek the father in any town with a stamp on a chain ask the locals, the clergy welcomes pilagrinos, they usually have a different stamp then the church some are very cool, if a church is closed be respectful walk around the building during the day & knock, my stamp book is filled with unusual stamps God bless\

Last night I stayed at the Benedictine convent in Estella (listed in Brierly). It’s up hill off the beaten Camino track, so I suggest calling a taxi when you arrive in town, but it was the most beautiful and peaceful evening I’ve had so far. I attended Vespers with the sisters, and ate supper and breakfast with the priest. Everyone was so kind. I felt cared about and loved here...it provided rest and renewed strength for this weary body, and comfort for a grieving heart. Father even offered me a benediction/blessing before I left. ❤️
Communication was a bit bumpy as they spoke very little English, but we got by with the help of google translate. It was all good. ☺️
And did I mention I was the solo peregrina there? With my OWN room and bathroom with a TUB? Oooh, felt so good. 37 euros was well worth it.
